Recount Writing

I am learning to write a recount about my experiences.

• order my ideas logically
• add detail to my ideas
• use punctuation consistently
• use time words e.g. first, next, after that, later, before etc.

Counting Money and Giving Change

I have been learning the values of NZ coins, skip count in 10s, total coins and give change to a total of $5.00



Before this I didn't know how to do this.  I slowly, slowly learned and now I can do it. 
Next time, I would like to learn more about money like using notes.  Aekam  16.11.15

Howick Historical Village

I enjoyed exploring 'change' at the Howick Historical Village.  I liked the hobby horses and the old uniforms.

Predicting, inferring and exploring vocabulary

I am learning to predict, make inferences and explore vocabulary

I found it tricky to explain the meaning.  Next time I would talk in a group to help me understand it better.  Aekam  15.11.16

Well done Aekam, you did very well with a tricky task to challenge you.  I agree, talking about the meanings of words and sentences will help you to develop greater understanding.

Kiwi Dog - Comprehension Questions

I have been learning to show my understanding of a text by answering questions about what I have read at level 20.



The reading was a little hard and a little easy.  It was hard to figure out some of the the questions.

Aekam, you read this text really well.  Yes it is tricky to answer some questions.  don't forget to go back to the text and look for the information and clues you need.  

Shape Pizza - Geometry

I have been learning to identify, name and sort 2D shapes according to their attributes: (number of sides, corners, parallel lines, curves, size and shape)

I have been learning to observe and compare the works of other artists and to create my own art work using geometric shapes.

To be successful I needed to look at the works of Klee, Matisse and Kandinsky (right) and cut a range of shapes in different sizes and place them carefully to create my own masterpiece. (left)

Describing a Storm

I am learning to describe a storm using my senses.

To be successful I will choose interesting words to describe what I can see, hear and feel during a storm.

         I like the way you have told us what you could see.  It was great that you

We have been participating in the Youthtown sports programme where we are learning to be part of a team.

"I liked doing relays, it was a lot of fun."

I have been learning all about halves and quarters.

"It was a little tricky at first, but it is easy now."

I am learning to write alliterated sentences.

Aekam ate an alligator.

"First I wrote all the words that start with the 'a' sound, then I wrote a sentence. It was tricky, but it was fun."

Maths

Counting On

I have been learning to count on from the biggest number.  I rolled a 5 and a 6 on the dice and had to add them together.

“I put 5 in my head and counted 6 more.”

Swimming

I have been learning to swim with my head in the water.  It was a bit tricky to start with, but I think I am getting better.

My Family

My Family

My family is from India.  There are seven family in my house.  My favourite thing is playing games.  My interesting fact is we like helping each other.   Aekam March 2016

In writing I have been writing about my family.  I have been learning to use capital letters and full stops in the right places.

I liked writing about my family, but it was a bit tricky to remember to put all the capital letters in.
